Aaron Tyree’s introspective vocals resound among the bleak picture painted by desperate lyrics. These healing vocals are hypnotic within the layered sheets of reverb-soaked guitar. Shadow Age offers more than just a soundtrack-like background. These two songs have memorable hooks and driving dance beats. The reverberant sound that Shadow Age are crafting is indeed a sophisticated one. Be sure to listen to this and all their releases.
Referring to the song 'The Fall' on Post-Punk.com, Frank Deserto had this to say: "The song is a shimmering piece of post-punk bliss, evoking the melancholic vocals of Mary Goes Round and the dream-like atmosphere of For Against. The video was directed by Christopher DeNitto and features a series of public domain footage from war-ravaged Europe, perhaps a cautionary tale or hazy retro nightmare for these trying times. There are moments of beauty throughout the otherwise bleak imagery, a parallel for the song’s gorgeous and driving atmosphere."
The Fall Lyrics
all I live for dead and gone
no one hears our cries
drowned out by vicious, twisted lies
my gut falls
as we die in vain in die alone
I want asylum here but there's no one near that I trust
these godless men of sin they murder, pillage, cleanse away
they come for me like I'm nothin
they know I'm falling
I want asylum here but there's no one near that I trust
these godless men of sin take life from us with less to live for
they come for me like I'm nothin
they know I'm falling
its nothing, its only time that i'm wasting
to feel it all
to feel to small
to dangle undone in the nothing of wasted days
you know
I sink into myself when I'm low
I'm so low
I'm pushing myself away from what I came here for
I lived enough
I give this up
its nothing, its only life that I'm wasting
abandon love
or re-adjust
or dangle here by my ankles afraid to trust
you know
I sink into myself when I'm low
I sink low and drag us both into the cold
I want to glow the way they glow
