Iron Years - "Lucid" Single
Iron Years Bio
Iron Years is a project from the Little Village neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. Immersed in the diverse musical environment of the city, their love of music and the violence around them instilled a desire and need to create. An outlet and a visceral expression. Drawing inspiration from the diaspora of Latin American and inner-city beats, what's been created is a perfect mix of what you would expect to hear blasting through most boomboxes and speakers around their neighborhood on any given night. Iron Years blends post punk, freestyle, synth pop, house, industrial and many types of dance music. This collective did not set out to play any one specific style. They simply drew upon inspiration from their lived environment and experiences. Through their music, one can hear all of these different sounds and styles brought together by universal themes of angst, despair, the pains of love, and ultimately hope.
Electronic drums and pads lay the foundation while hard Punk bass lines drive the songs. Dreamy melodic guitars set to invite a trance and pair with synth arrangements quite reminiscent of old Italo records. Regardless of their post punk exterior, the influence of Chicago house and dance music is unmistakable. Iron Years pulls us into their world and looks to play in the background of your deepest desires in order to make you dance. There’s a primal need in their sound to make us all move.

Lucid Lyrics
I vividly recall this feeling
That I'd never become unchained
From all those times before
When the hurt would pulsate
But I've reached new heights
Death is for the foolish
And now I know
I've finally woken up
It was a cold night
When it came to me
I knew I should and I wanted to
Let you go
I don't have time for goodbyes
I don't have patience for apologies
I've finally woken up
I've finally woken up
But I've been feeling far too free
To cage myself again
I want to give myself to everyone
Don't wait outside my window anymore
And please remember this
I promised you nothing more
Easy on the pressure
I've been there before
It's not happening again
This time it's different the conversation's real
Unlike you were back then
I've reached new heights
Death is for the foolish
And now I know
I've finally woken up
But I've been feeling far too free
To cage myself again
I want to give myself to everyone
Don't wait outside my window anymore
And please remember this
I promised you nothing more
