Empty Beings is Dave Rosenstraus, Shayontani Banerjee, Adam Thomas, and Nick Leombruno.
"The vocals in particular are what stand out, with Shani channeling a biting sweetness in her Wanda Jackson like vocals, backed by the barrage of punk rhythms that altogether evoke the sonic spirit of Jeffrey Lee Pierce. - Alex Baker of post-punk.com
"I don’t usually compare bands to the past, but today I can’t help myself! Unholy fuck, Empty Beings are a modern day 45 Grave mixed with Tex & the Horseheads and Legal Weapon, while injecting something totally new into the Death Rock art form." - Sean Reveron of CVLT Nation
"Pittsburgh punks Empty Beings bring forth a very much dynamic and pretty dark sound which draws from deathrock, post-punk, surf and garage rock, to provide a striking specimen of punk superiority, purity, and directness." - Zombie Rust of Destroy//Exist
"With two releases — 2015’s Demo and 2016’s EP Confront the Living — Empty Beings is set to release its LP Dead and Pathetic in the coming months. Written over the course of 2018, the album represents a step forward from previous releases." - Edward Banchs of the Pittsburgh City Paper
Empty Beings is a four-piece post-punk / cow punk band from Pittsburgh, PA. They consist of Nick Leombruno on guitar, Dave Rosenstraus on drums, Adam Thomas on bass, and Shani Banerjee on vocals. The band draws influence from American hardcore, deathrock, new wave, and cowpunk.
Empty Beings is known for energetic and at times confrontational live show. Shani and crew want nothing more than to continue to bring honesty fun to their performances while challenging everyone to expand their perspectives.
Empty Beings began in 2015 when Shani received email from drummer Dave Rosenstraus asking her to join a new post-punk project. At the time Shani was taking part in a photography residency in Iceland. Rosenstraus was already writing with Nick Leombruno. The sparse sound was a perfect fit for the feel of Iceland, and Banerjee was onboard.
Four years later Adam Thomas joined on bass, and Empty Beings was complete.
Their LP Dead and Pathetic officially releases on October 12th on Play Alone Records.
